Yes Please!

I was Stumbling around the internet the other day (if you don't know about Stumble Upon, how dare you waste your time any other way :)), when I came across this website.

It is definitely a sign.

Here is the Hotel and Igloo Village Kakslauttanen, located in northern Finland in the Lapland region. I mean, legit in the Arctic Circle. Don't know if you can find any travel promos for this hotel, so better save up.

Wait, Finland is way the heck up there?! :)
I've already told the hubs that I want to do a winter trip up in the Arctic Circle/Lapland. I know right, what happened to that little Texas girl who thought anything below 80 is 'chilly'?!

Don't you think it would be such an amazing experience to see an actual Winter Wonderland!!

And with this hotel offering all this, who could ask for more:

"In the winter time we offer husky safaris, snowmobile safaris, reindeer safaris and ice-fishing trips as well as guided ski treks. The Saariselkä ski trail network of over 180km passes right by the hotel. You can rent cross country skis from the hotel."

Man, throw in a reindeer sled ride - not even sure if those exist! - and I am sold!!
Oh, and I haven't even shown you the best part. Along with the hotel and cabins, they offer a accommodations in a glass igloo. Yep, glass igloos!

"Glass igloo provides a one of a kind opportunity to admire the northern lights and millions of stars of the crystal clear sky in a comfortable room temperature. Built from a special thermal glass the temperature inside the igloo always stays a normal level. It also prevents the glass from not getting white frosted, hence keeping the view clear even when the temperature outside drops to under -30°C. Every igloo is equipped with a toilet and luxury beds."

Imagine falling asleep with this view!

And from this photo, I am assuming they have wild zebras there in Lapland. I mean, why else would they decorate the rooms with them?! Haha. Beautiful!

Or even better, my absolute dream is to see the Northern Lights. Now I am not sure how much sleep you would get under these bright babies, but wouldn't it be a sight!

Never mind the ridiculous cost, cough $500 cough, this is a once in a lifetime kind of vacation!

We have to take advantage of our location this year.

Um, OK. Sold! Just came across this photo on the website :)

Yes Please!!! Can't you just imagine me on one of these bad boys?! Ohhh yeah, haha.

Tomorrow, another The More You Know Monday. Prepare to be learn-ed. Happy lazy Sunday, bloggyland. I sure am enjoying mine :)

  7. That looks soo awesome!!! You need to check out the ice hotel in northern sweden online as well.. We wanted to make a trip up there, but with being pregnant, it just didn't happen. It's suppose to be SUPER awesome!! :-)

  8. DO IT!! I have always wanted to go somewhere like that. Plus you will get to see Santa and tell him what you want for Christmas!! None of these Santa's helpers in the department store, the real Santa!!

  9. Hi and thanks for the visit!Read about the list what you are missing over there! The demand for baking mixes, dips and salad dressings -ready made- is not that high as we prefer to make them from scratch. Its healthier, cheaper and more producing in comparison to consuming. Guess you get the idea how much I enjoy my time here!
    Wait, what?
    nearly forgot!
    I embrace the challenge..
    just not today!
    LOL
The only thing I miss is Quark and by now I have learned to produce even this myself.
Have a great time in Scheerrmaany

  10. Think I'm going to have to add this place to the bucket list. I've seen the Northern Lights before in Saskatchewan, but I think they'd be way more spectacular up there. And I used to Stumble ALLL the time when I lived in Slovakia :)

  14. Hey there: There is nothing that can compare with "Northern Lights" - I have seen them and they have held me captive in my heart and mind - they entrance your soul to your very inner being and once you see them, they stay locked in your mind forever. The glass igloo's are nifty looking - I have only been in one made of ice blocks and snow blocks, however, I think I would prefer the glass - looks kinda cozy.
Great blog - thanks so much

  16. stumbleupon might be the greatest thing ever? it kind of depresses me though sometimes when they show me awesome travel things that i will probably only ever dream of. if you go to this awesome hotel, would you perhaps, i don't know, want a stowaway in your suitcase? maybe? because i am volunteering myself.

  25. I want to go!! Take me with you :) Seriously, this does look amazing, but is anyone else wondering about using the bathroom in a glass igloo? I mean, I'm assuming the toilet's blocked from the view of the other glass igloos...of course I'd be worried about something stupid like that, ha!

  37. I saw this place on the travel channel once- absolutely amazing!I cannot even imagine spending that kind of money on a hotel, let alone the cost it would take to get there! Yikes!

  38. OH! I'm in! Thanks for the invite...er, I mean I just sort of assumed you would need a fellow Texanadian combo to accompany you on this vacation.

As an aside, when I first met my Canadian he told me it was a family tradition to eat Reindeer on Christmas Eve. Rudolph. True story.

  39. That has got to be the coolest and only reason to ever go north of the Arctic Circle. I mean, I guess you can go to the Arctic Circle just to say, hey, I went to the Arctic Circle and all I got was this lousy t-shirt. Which, by the way, is the parting gift given by the University of Oklahoma to doctoral candidates upon successful completion of their defense.

Pfft. At least policemen get a watch.
